area man in response to the nra's controversial plan to curb gun violence. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now. >> good morning. welcome. it's saturday december 22nd. > pretty wild wake up call. let's get to rosemary and a quick look at what is happening outside. >> first we have allie who is standing by. >> told you it was a wild wake up call. what's happening? >> reporter: we have been out in the road since 4:30 and the rain hasn't let up. we are on cast ovally and redwood. we haven't seen drivers having a problem. the weather has caused problems on the road throughout the bay area. on 880 southbound, the driver of this truck crashed and ended up on its side. the driver said that the strong wind and rain caused him to loose control of the truck. on 580 the driver of this vehicle fled the scene of the crash after the car hit a tree. it happened during the heavy rainfall early this morning though chp doesn't know if weather was the only factor. for other drivers out in the roads, trying to get to their destination the stormy weather created an inconvenient mess. >

and the fallout from the n-r-a comments continue. national rifle association president david keene is speaking out today.nearly two weeks after the connecticut school massacre. n-r-a executive vice president wayne lapierre first addressed the issue last friday.calling for armed officers in all u-s schools. lapierre blamed recent mass shootings on poor oversight of the mentally ill, violent t-v shows, movies and video games.among ofther things. today keene responded to the backlash over lapierre's suggestions on school security. >> when wayne lapeer spoke about a week ago, he suggested that what has to happen and what should happen is that in every school district, administrators, teachers and parents should sit down and ask what's needed to protect the students in that school. some of them will want police officers there. others of them will want private security guards. there may be some places they want volunteers to do it. we're willing to work with everybody on those questions. but the fact is that is not a crazy suggestion. >> reporter: keene's comments come one day after a new york newspaper
weapons. other senators have voiced their support for such legislation. but n-r-a c-e-o wayne lapierre is dismissing any bans on assault weapons and made clear yesterday it was highly unlikely that the n- r-a would support any new gun regulations. meanwhile, demonstrators marched over new york city's brooklyn bridge demanding tighter gun laws in the country. several hundred people participated in the march. carrying candles, the protestors stopped in the middle of the iconic bridge to read the names of the children and adults killed at sandy hook elementary school in connecticut. >> an afghan police official says an afghan policewoman has killed an american adviser at the kabul police headquarters. the deputy police chief says an investigation is underway to determine whether the killing was intentional or accidental. the victim was a military or civilian adviser. the nato military command says it's looking into reports of the shooting but had no other information. >> hawaii is saying goodbye to a much-respected native son. daniel inouye. president obama attended inouye's funeral yeste
